The council’s £45m regeneration of High View neighbourhood centre in Hatfield has been shortlisted for a Planning Award in the Regeneration category.
The Planning Awards are held annually to recognise excellence in planning, regeneration, economic development, urban design, sustainable development and community development across the United Kingdom.
This scheme, which comprises 146 new homes, a doctor’s surgery, 19 commercial units, a new green space and play park and investment in sports facilities, local schools and youth centre, will completely transform south Hatfield, into a place where people will enjoy spending time at work, at home or at play.
Councillor Duncan Bell, Executive Member for Resources at Welwyn Hatfield Council, said:
“It’s a great honour to be shortlisted for this prestigious award which also recognises all the local residents and businesses who have been vital in shaping these plans.”

The commencement of the start of site operations is currently being reviewed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The WGC Estate Management Scheme Design Guide, created and entered by Place Services, is also shortlisted in the 2020 awards for ‘Design Excellence’.
The Planning Awards take place in London on 4 September 2020.
